We don’t know about you, but we love berries — especially blueberries — when the hot summer months roll around. Sure, eating handfuls of the berries hits the spot every time, but so does adding it to other foods (blueberry muffins, cobbler, or pancakes, anyone?) and drinks, including our beloved coffee.
We know, we know: coffee and blueberries sound like a strange combination but trust us, it’s good stuff, especially when you want to enjoy the blueberry muffin-like flavor without having to bake any muffins.

You’ll Need:
- blueberry syrup
- cold brew
- milk, creamer, or cream of choice
- tall glass
- ice cubes
The Process:
Step 1:
Start by filling your glass with ice cubes. Then, pour a drizzle of blueberry syrup into the glass.
Step 2:
Now, it’s time to add your cold brew coffee! Pour as much as you’d like to drink into the glass, but don’t forget to leave room for your creamer or milk of choice.
Step 3:
Finish the process by topping your coffee-syrup mixture with a splash of milk or creamer, stir the liquid, and enjoy your blueberry drink.
If you want to enjoy the creamy blueberry latte hot instead of cold, fire up the espresso machine and use a shot or two of the rich joe instead of cold brew. Regardless of the temperature, this drink can make your morning or afternoon coffee-drinking session a delicious experience.
Try Making Fresh Blueberry Syrup
You can, of course, use store-bought blueberry syrup to make this iced coffee drink. But, it’s not hard to make homemade blueberry syrup, and it’ll probably be better for you than one of the popular products on the market. Keep reading to find out how to make a batch.
You’ll Need:
- fresh or frozen blueberries
- 1/8 cup of water
- blender
- sugar
- small saucepan
- strainer
The Process:
Step 1:
Start by tossing a handful of blueberries (yep, actual blueberries — none of that artificial stuff) into a blender and pour an eighth of a cup of water over them. Blend until smooth.
Step 2:
Then, pour your blueberry and water mixture through a strainer and into the saucepan. Add sugar (make it as sweet as you want, but typically one or two tablespoons will do it).
Step 3:
Let the blueberry mixture simmer over low or medium heat and stir it occasionally until all of the granulated sugar has dissolved. This process should take no more than five minutes.
Step 4:
Let the syrup cool, then add it to your cup of coffee!
Thinking Outside the Box
Feel free to tweak our blueberry latte recipe as you see fit. For example, you might consider using a scoop of vanilla ice cream instead of milk or cream and switching the cold brew coffee for espresso to enjoy a blueberry affogato.
Or perhaps you don’t want to drink anything with a coffee taste — we can’t relate, but OK. However, if that’s the case, put the joe away and bring out the matcha powder instead. The sweetness from the blueberries complements the green tea quite nicely, creating a unique and refreshing beverage.
Whatever you decide to use to make your latte — cold brew coffee, espresso shots, or matcha — we hope you enjoy it!
Happy Caffeinating!
