We think it’s safe to assume that when the cappuccino first arrived on the scene in Italy at the beginning of the 1900s, early baristas probably had no idea how popular this creamy coffee drink would become.
Fast forward to the present day and the delicious cappuccino is on the menu at nearly every café and coffee shop, and those who enjoy them on a regular basis get a taste of good Italian coffee no matter where they live.
CRACKING THE CAPPUCCINO CODE
Maybe you’re one of the few who have never heard of the cappuccino. Or maybe you’ve heard the name once or twice but never bothered to ask what it is. Either way, if you’ve got questions, we’ve got answers.
So, what exactly is this drink? The espresso-based beverage is typically six ounces in volume and is usually comprised of one-third espresso, one-third steamed milk, and one-third thick milk foam. The simple little beverage can be enjoyed without any add-ins, but many love to customize it by adding cream instead of milk or using flavored syrups or spices.

HOW TO MAKE AN ICED CAPPUCCINO AT HOME
YOU’LL NEED:
- Ice
- 2 shots of espresso (chilled)
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 cup warm milk
- Ground Cinnamon
THE PROCESS:
Step 1:
This is easy; just brew two shots of your favorite strong espresso! Since you’re making a cold drink, you’ll want to use chilled coffee, so you may want to let it sit in your refrigerator for a few minutes. Once the coffee is chilled, pour the shots in a cup over ice.
Step 2:
Stir in sugar. Our recipe calls for two tablespoons, but you can add more or less, depending on your taste.
Step 3:
Use a handheld frother to froth your warm milk until its texture becomes foamy, and pour it on top of the sugar and coffee mixture. But be careful — you’ll still need steamed milk to add to the drink, so you need to be sure it’s not all foam.
Step 4:
The last step of the recipe ties it all together, making your homemade iced cappuccino something any expert barista would approve of. Top it off with a sprinkle of ground cinnamon, and you’re all done!

ENJOY!
There you have it: one of the easiest iced cappuccino recipes you’ll find. Once you perfect this recipe, experiment with the ingredients a bit. Try it with vanilla or chocolate-flavored syrup, or for something creamier, you may want to use half-and-half instead of milk and make your cappuccino a breve.
We know that not everyone loves iced coffee drinks, and if you fall into that category, don’t let that keep you from trying this recipe. Simply skip the ice and use hot espresso.
