Introducing: The Foamy Caramel Chocolate Latte
I don’t know about you, but I get a sweet tooth craving usually right around the time I’m looking for my second cup of coffee of the day.
Maybe this is a formed habit from visiting Starbucks on my break in the pre-pandemic days, but with my kitchen being the nearest café, I can now treat myself to a tasty coffee drink from the comfort of my home.
I love all things chocolate, with caramel flavors being a close second. So why not combine the two? Add in some instant espresso and coffee cubes and top it off with a creamy, rich finish.
This latte is so easy and quick to make, while also being the perfect pick-me-up. Instant espresso is a quick way to get a shot of caffeine and is so delicious in sweet drinks like this.
What makes this drink café quality though is the use of a handheld milk frother. Whip up the espresso and syrups with some hot water to create a thick, creamy foam that adds richness to the drink.

What You Need
This recipe requires only a few simple ingredients that you probably have on hand if you enjoy making your own specialty drinks at home.
- Mason jar or glass
- Milk frother
- Instant espresso
- Caramel sauce
- Chocolate sauce
- Boiling water
- Iced coffee Cubes (optional)
- Creamer of choice
We suggest using instant espresso over instant coffee for this recipe. It has a stronger kick and bolder flavor that blends perfectly with the chocolate and caramel sauce.
Using iced coffee cubes also is a great way to add even more caffeine to the drink if you want a real banger.
Our personal favorite coffee sauces are the Ghirardelli brand, but use whatever you like best!
Substitutions
It’s fairly easy to make any adjustments and substitutions for this recipe while maintaining the same proportions. We highly suggest using instant espresso over instant coffee, but instant coffee can be used in a pinch.
If you swap out for a fresh shot of espresso, know that it may not be as foamy. Instant espresso tends to foam much more than fresh espresso.
For creamer, we used almond milk, but any creamer of choice can be used here. However, keep in mind any added sweetener to the drink. We recommend using half & half, whole milk or alternative, or unsweetened milk.
If you don’t have a milk frother, you can always prepare the mixture with a spoon or whisk. The frother helps form a foamy, cloud-like texture that may not be as easily replicated with a spoon or hand whisk, but will still work.
